Chiropractic care may boost your sex life. Yes, I said it. To some this may be a taboo topic, but to others this information can be life changing and may save a relationship. Often times we become embarrassed to share information about struggles with our “lady parts” or “gentleman parts” not working properly, but chiropractic and a healthy sex life are more closely linked than you think.

The health of your spine and nerves is crucial to how our bodies function each day. Many people suffer with low back pain, infertility, loss of sex drive for both men and women, hormone imbalance in females or erectile dysfunction in males. The most common problem that people struggle with is chronic low back pain, which can put a damper on bedroom activity affecting performance and mood. The low back and pelvic region is loaded with blood vessels and nerves. The nerves of the low back supply the function and control feelings of the lower parts of the body. If there is pressure on the nerves of the low back this may lead to pain and/or dysfunction of the reproductive organs, and a loss of desire.

The purpose of chiropractic is to remove the pressure off the nerves so that the body can heal and function on its own. Sounds simple right? The body is a fascinatingly complex organism designed perfectly. The physiology really is simple. Unfortunately, as we get older we tend to rationalize things and make them more complicated. Take us back to our childhood when we first learned about the human body in school. When asked what controls 100% of our bodies’ function the answer is brain and spinal cord; nothing has changed right? In the medical model, the focus is helping the body heal from the outside in. For example, a male suffering from erectile dysfunction often gets introduced to a chemical substance (drug) called Viagra. Did the gentleman suffer from erectile dysfunction due to a lack of Viagra produced by his body? NO! Our body does not produce Viagra so why do we tend to focus on introducing something new into the body instead of focusing on what caused the erectile dysfunction in the first place? Don’t get me wrong, thank God for medicine which saves lives in a crisis situation. I am not bashing medicine. Medicine does save lives, but the question is what caused the problem in the first place? What caused the erectile dysfunction? Science, anatomy, physiology tells us that nerves control the function of the male sex organs, so let’s start at the root of the cause looking at how well are these nerves working. The most basic principle and science of anatomy states that the brain controls 100% of our bodies’ functions. The brain sends signals down the spinal cord and nerves to communicate with the reproductive organs telling them how to work. This system is so important that it is surrounded and protected by bone. The skull is like a helmet protecting the brain and the bones of the back, called vertebrae protect the spinal cord. In everyday life, we are active and these bones may shift out of place causing pressure on the nerves. A chiropractic adjustment relieves the pressure helping to restore normal function.

In my practice, I have had the honor of adjusting thousands of people helping them reach their health goals. I have had men and women tell me that their relationship with their spouse had improved through chiropractic care, specifically sex drive. Chiropractic has many health benefits overall and may impact a healthy sex life helping to decrease back pain, improve function, increase desire for both sexes, and increase energy. Even if you don’t suffer from sexual dysfunction, the health of your nervous system is crucial to maintain. At Dynamic Life Chiropractic, we focus on detecting the cause and helping you find a solution. It is an honor and privilege to take care of you and your family. Thank you for your trust.
